Public Relations Is An Image Maker - Okundaye
The Assistant Director of the Press and Public Relations Unit, Mrs Funmi Okundaye has told the 2021 Batch A stream II corps members that the Public Relations Unit is an image maker of any organization.
Okundaye in her address established the fact that the Press and Public Relations Unit occupies a vital position in the NYSC as regards to making corps members and the society at large abreast with the latest happenings of the scheme, by making yearly editorial publications, passing of information through the various television and online platforms and by giving professional advice to the scheme.
Again, she stated that the Unit is also in charge of issuance of various NYSC publications as the service guide, bye laws, oath forms, Identity cards amongst others to corps members and camp officials. However for the replacement of misplaced ID cards, corps members have to go to the police station to make a formal report as well as sign an affidavit in court then proceed to writing a letter to the state coordinator and through their LGI and Employer.
Okundaye told the corps members that the Orientation Broadcasting Service (OBS) here on camp is the smallest unit of the Press and Public Relations Unit which helps the department to function effectively during orientation programmes.
While concluding her lecture, She encouraged Corps members to ensure to read their service guide as they would need the knowledge contained in it throughout their service year. She pleaded with corps members to see themselves as image makers and therefore project the image of the NYSC well during their service year.
