OUR MINDSET: ONE OF OUR GREATEST ASSETS

Have you ever thought your mindset as valuable? Wonder why I ask? Because, often times,  people don't. 

The mind is the most vital aspect of the human race. It  is what determines our actions, feelings and behavior. Simply put, ' we act as we feel or think'. Our opinion or attitude about a person or a thing is what eventually propels our actions or behaviour. Prior to the 21st Century Nigeria and the world, people hardly pay attention to the wellbeing of the mind, whereas attention is given exclusively to the outward (the body or appearance) part of  human life. However, with increase in suicide, crime and abuse, the world's attention has been shifted to understanding the human mindset.  

One of the questions a criminal is asked when arrested is, "why did you do it?" and funny enough, many did such simply because they thought and felt like it, or they developed a certain attitude and opinion about a person, a thing or even themselves.  If our  mindset  is so important, how can we use it for the greater good? We do by seeing our mindset as one of our greatest assets.

In the world of business, an asset is seen as  something that generates cash flow, and the first asset of any business man is his/her mindset, reason being that great ideas and their  execution comes from the right mindset.  Therefore, successful business men or women are those with great mindset. It is dependent on what mindset about their businesses they development over time. In the world of Law. The mindset is also consider as an asset. Lawyers are trained to think a certain way. As it enables them form opinions that fuels judgement. 

In the world of health, doctors consider a patient's mindset as valuable because mindset can affect recovery or healing. The opinion, views or attitude a patient forms around his or her illness plays a vital role in the  outcome of that sickness or disease. Lastly, in parenting, creating the right mindset in your growing child will determine what the child becomes in future. Some of the crime in today's world emanates from a parents' inability to help their children develop the right mindset while growing up.

Having considered the above, it is important we pay attention to how and what we think. Also, we must pay attention to opinions about people or things that we have formed over time. As it fuels our decisions or character, which in the end determines our success in life.  Our mindset is a great asset, exploit it today!
