Be Good Ambassadors of NYSC - Mrs Olawale Tells Corps Members.

The Assistant Director Corps Discipline and Reward, Mrs Obiageli Okpalifo who was represented by Mrs Olawale Veronica of the Corps Discipline and Reward Branch, has told the 2021 Batch A Stream II Corps members that they should be good ambassadors of NYSC wherever they might find themselves.

She made this disclosure while delivering a lecture on the operations and functions of the Branch at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ede on Monday.

According to her, Corps members posted to various communities are meant to represent the scheme and they must endeavour to imbibe the virtue of hardwork and dedication.

She said that one of the core objectives of the NYSC is to instill discipline in the youths. She further made it known that a committee has been set up to ensure that discipline is instilled in Corps members.

While exposing some offenses that attract discipline by the disciplinary committee, she made mention of the following: travelling without permission, inducing rejection, abscondment, refusal to accept posting, presenting fake medical reports, kidnapping, armed robbery, impersonation, practicing politics while serving, amongst others. 

She however laid emphasis on the issue of abscondment, where corps members will be made to repeat the service year should they be absent from their places of primary assignment for three consecutive months.

Furthermore, she encouraged Corps members to ensure to do their monthly biometrics which will enable them to receive their monthly salaries. 

She said that the scheme has equally prepared rewards for Corps members with outstanding services. She stated conditions that can rob Corps members of the rewards available for outstanding services. They include: going on relocation, concessional postings, among others. 

In the end, she encouraged Corps Members to do their jobs diligently as well as abide with all NYSC rules and regulations.
