The Director General NYSC, Brigadier General Ibrahim Shuaibu has told corps members across the country that their safety is of utmost priority to the scheme and it will try to safeguard the lives of the corps members under its care. 


 He made the statement during a nationwide broadcast for the 2021 Batch A stream 1 corps members and camp officials on Monday, the eve of their departure from camp.


He enjoined all corps members to be security conscious at all times and ensure they report suspicious acts or movements around them to the nearest security agencies in order not to put themselves in harms way. 


Furthermore, he highlighted the importance of the orientation exercise and other cardinal programmes of the scheme. He further called on the corps members to settle down and avoid embarking on unauthorised journey. According to him, journies within or outside the country must be with the written approval of the state coordinator and the director general respectively.  

In addition, he admonished Corps members to be disciplined, committed, patriotic and be good representatives of themselves and of the society. They must also be willing to add value to their host communities and ensure they are committed to their primary responsibilities. 


On the use of the social media the DG admonished them to use it to promote unity and peace and not to plant seeds of hatred an division nor should they involve themselves in cybercrime and other related vices.


The Director General also advised the members to participate actively in the skill acquisition and entreprenuership development post camp training as there is a paucity of white collar jobs. He said if they should take a bolder step to perfect the skills they have acquired the sky will be their limit.


 In concluding his address, he told corps members that one of the major qualification for national award is total acceptance of the state and place of primary assignment they were posted to without inducing rejection or relocating from the state of their deployment. He enjoined them to settle down in the state of their deployment and learn to accept the people of their host community, respecting their culture.
