RESPECT THE CULTURE AND TRADITIONS OF YOUR HOST COMMUNITY- ADEGOKE TELLS CORPS MEMBERS
The NYSC Osun State Coordinator, Mr Ayodele Adewale Adegoke has instructed the 2021 Batch A Stream 1 corps members to accord maximum respect to the culture and tradition of their host communities.
He gave this admonition on Monday while debriefing the corps members at the Permanent Orientation Camp Ede. He spoke on the need to establish a balance in all they do as regards their social interactions in their places of primary assignments, not forgetting to always be diligent in their assigned duties.
Speaking further, Adegoke reiterated the fact that there is an established mode of communication and for no reason should any corps member neglect this established channel of communication.
Again, he said commitment to community development service meetings is compulsory as repeated absenteeism would lead to loss of allowance.
In stressing the importance of skill acquisition, he enjoined all corps members to strive to perfection and use their skills to better the society.
"Skill acquisition is meant to develop you and your host community," he added.
However, he admonished the corps members not to use the SAED as an excuse to abscond from work. He urged corps members to lay good legacies during their service year. Mr. Adegoke disclosed that the NYSC has different types of awards but not all projects get an award.
He warned corps members to avoid night travels as it has proven to be very dangerous. He adjoined them to be security conscious, avoid partisan politics and politicians.
The state coordinator also reemphasize the need for corps members to always abide by the COVID-19 protocols, especially wearing of facemask, that failure to do that is a federal crime in Nigeria.
He finally appreciated God for a successful orientation exercise and prayed for Gods divine protection for all corps members.
