INEC Enlightens Corps Members on Their Roles in Achieving Electoral Credibility in Nigeria
The Head of Department, Voters Education, Publicity, Gender and Civil Society Organisations, INEC, Osun State, Mr Lucky Balogun enlightened the 2020 Batch A and B Stream 1'A' corps members on the electoral process since inception and on their role in ensuring the credibility of the electoral process in Nigeria.
The INEC sensitisation took place on Monday at the Permanent Orientation Camp Ede, Osun State.
During the sensitization, Mr Balogun further enlightened the Corps members on the roles, laws, and importance of INEC and the electoral process emphasizing on the importance of voters registration and participation in the elections which are necessities in every electoral system.
He said the role of Corps members in the electoral Processe include: registration of voters, working as Presiding Officers and Assistant Presiding Officers during elections, among others.
Mr Balogun stressed that Corps Members participating in elections must shun all forms of bribery and corrupt practises and uphold integrity and dignity. He said they should also play an ambassadorial role in championing voters education.
