NCDC Inspects Ongoing Orientation Course; Rates Osun NYSC Camp High
The Nigerian Center for Disease Control (NCDC), Abuja paid an unscheduled visit to the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ede on Monday to inspect the camp and ensure the level of compliance by course participants at the ongoing 2020 Batch B stream 1A orientation programme.
The NCDC Prevention and Control Program Manager, Mr Biodun Ogunniyi, who spoke while inspecting the orientation camp said the visit was to ensure that the course participants are complying with the preventive measures outlined by the NCDC and the availability of covid-19 preventive items on the camp.
Mr Biodun expressed satisfaction with the cleanliness of the camp and the structures put in place to ensure the safety and comfort of corps members. He also commended the level of compliance by participants who were seen wearing their face masks and washing their hands at designated points. He emphasized on the need for the orientation camp to keep obeying the protocols, stressing that COVID-19 is still in existence and that all must work in synergy to ensure the nation does not experience a second wave of the virus.
Speaking further, he enjoined the Corps members to champion the fight against the COVID-19 and be the change and inspiration to the society by reminding and educating those around them on the need to maintain physical distancing, wash and sanitize their hands regularly and the need to wear the facemasks in public places.
Subsequently, he assured the corps medical personnel and the NCDC team of the center's maximum support and cooperation.
"The NCDC will continue to work assiduously to ensure the safety of Nigerians", he added.
He further appreciated the Corps medical personnel for their selfless service which is channeled towards ensuring the safety of corps members and camp officials on camp.
"See this as a selfless service and a clarion call.
"Your service will never go unnoticed but understand that your life matters, nothing is commensurate to your life", he said.
Meanwhile, the NYSC Osun State Coordinator, Mr Ayodele Adegoke who took the representative of the NCDC around the orientation camp, assured Mr Biodun of the scheme's commitment to the continuous adherence to the NCDC protocols.
"The Safety of corps members is Paramount to our Director General, Brig. Gen. Shuaibu Ibrahim and the management of scheme.We will not therefore relent in always putting their safety first", he stated.
Mr Adegoke appreciated the Director General of the NCDC on behalf of the Director General of NYSC, Brig. General Shuaibu Ibrahim, for making it a top priority to visit the ongoing orientation programme nationwide to ascertain the safety of course participants and level of compliance with the covid-19 protocols.
