KICK OUT LASSA FEVER, OSUN NYSC INSISTS
Following the recent wake of the deadly Lassa Fever in the country, the National Youth Service Corps in the State of Osun has embarked on a campaign against the disease.
The one-day rally tagged "Kick Out Lassa Fever: Stay Clean, Stay Healthy", took off at the Freedom Park, Orisumbare and rounded off at Igbona market, Osogbo on Thursday morning.
The corps members led by the NYSC Local Government Inspector, Osogbo Local Government, Mr. A. O Olatunji, marched with placards carrying messages about the disease.
The LGI, Osogbo Local Government, Mr. A. O Olatunji who stated that the rally was prompted by the recent breakout of lassa fever in Africa and Nigeria, disclosed that the marketers were the main target as food is one of the fastest ways the disease is being contracted.
One of the marketers, Mrs. Sidikatu Raimi, in an interview with our reporters, mentioned some of the measures she takes to prevent rats from contaminating her food stuffs to include covering them before going home at night and applying pesticides.
