"I AM VERY INTERESTED IN THE AFFAIRS OF CORPS MEMBERS" - AIG Zone XI
The Assistant Inspector General of Police, Nigeria Police Force, Zone XI, Adeleye Oyebade has expressed his keen interest in the affairs of corps members serving in the zone comprising; Osun, Oyo and Ondo State.
He made this known to the NYSC Osun State Coordinator, Mr Ayodele Adegoke during a courtesy visit to the Zone XI Command Headquarters in Osogbo, Osun State on Wednesday.
The AIG described his experience serving and working with the scheme as a wonderful one and said " I am a part of you and I enjoy everything you do there. The scheme takes care of anyone who works with them and this visit feels like a homecoming for me".
"the scheme is doing really great and I must commend the management of the scheme for the strides taken so far to make the scheme more relevant and indispensable. It has proven to be a great training and preparatory ground for our youths to combat challenges in the larger world and also to actualise their dreams through self discovery, development and self reliance" he posited.
Adeleye further reiterated his commitment to beefing up and ensuring the security of corps members in the zone. He said " I will ensure that the security of corps members in Local Government areas be reinforced and I must urge all corps members to be extra vigilant when carrying out special assignments and to as much as possible, avoid frivolous travels".
He thereafter announced the emergence of a new platform that allows the PPR department of the force sensitize students in higher institutions on the ills of the involvement in hard drugs and terrorist activities and pleaded with the state coordinator to allow the force, extend it's orientation to corps members.
Earlier, the State Coordinator, Mr Ayodele Adegoke, intimated that the purpose of the courtesy visit was to register the scheme's appreciation with the AIG for his representation during her programmes in the State and to also strengthen the already existing synergy between the force and the scheme.
He described the Force as a Worthy partner who have effortlessly served the scheme in the matters of the security of corps members during and after the orientation course and urged the AIG to look into the extension of security by patrol officers to the lodges of corps members in Local governments.
The highlights of the visit include the presentation of the NYSC Act and other publications of the scheme to the AIG and also the presentation of a plaque as sourvenir to the State Coordinator by the AIG.
