"WHEN THE SCHEME SUFFERS, EVERY SECTOR IS AFFECTED"- CD, Youths and Sports
The Coordinating Director of Youths and Sports, Mr Amos Oludiran Fashesin, has described the challenges facing the NYSC scheme in the State as one that affects every sector of the government.
This he said in response to the State Coordinator, Mr. Ayodele Adegoke's request during a courtesy call to the Ministry of Youths and Sports Osogbo, Osun State on Wednesday.
According to him, "when the scheme suffers, every sector is challenged because at a point in time, their wards would get into the scheme so long as he or she is within the age range of mobilization".
However, the Director who recalled his favourable encounter with the state coordinator promised his support saying "I am ready to partner with you and I assure you that whatever the government can do will be done"
This response came on the heels of the state coordinator's reappeal for government's intervention in the matters of the scheme in the State.
Earlier, the State Coordinator who had appreciated the Office of the Director for their presence and support during the orientation and passing out ceremony, cited some challenges facing the scheme in the state such as the dilapidating camp buildings, the need for a permanent Secretariat, the appalling state of the camp's multipurpose Hall and the welfare of corps members in general.
He went ahead to request financial assistance lighten the burden of eventualities like corps members health expenses, and the release of the stadium for the winding up and passing out parade of the scheme in the state.
