Protect The Right Of The Children, PET CDS Urges The General Public
The Peer Education Trainers (PET) CDS group of Olorunda Local Government has urged the general public to protect the right of the children for greater future.
Speaking during the 1-day sensitization program in the city of Osogbo, Osun State, the corps members advocated the right of children to healthy life, right to childhood, right to education, right to be heard, and right to be treated with respect and dignity.
The president of the group, Mr. Kehinde Adeyemi while addressing the general populace disclosed the objective of the campaign which aimed at reminding parents and guardians the right of every child to better life and future no matter the circumstances.
He further opined that girl child should not be a commodity or tool used to cure the family misfortunes, as this often occurs in some parts of the country when a teenager is betrothed to an old man just because of his wealth.
In a session interview with some parents, they also warned against child marriage, thereby admonishing every responsible father and mother to meet the needs of their children by providing them quality education and trainings.
