NDLEA Trains Corps Members on Fighting Drug Abuse
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Osogbo division has trained corps members on the skills and strategies to fighting drug abuse in the society.
The sensitization program tagged "Train the Trainers" had the corps members from the Drug Free and Quality Control (DFQC) CDS group of Olorunda Local Government to be trained and educated at the agency office, Testing Ground, Osogbo Osun State.
The lead speaker at the event, Mrs Abiola Oladejo, who is also an Officer from the Drug Demand Reduction Unit reminded the CDS group of the objective of NDLEA which aimed at reducing the abuse of substance to the barest minimum. She further encouraged the corps members to be patriotic vanguards and stakeholders of the agency.
According to Oladejo, the corps members are the reflections of hope to the society as they transform lives and influence youth community positively. She said " You are a counsellor and the hope of restoration for a drug addict depends on you".
Meanwhile, an Officer from the Enforcement Unit, Mr. Uche sensitized the corps members about several drugs that are illegal and socially unacceptable. He also displayed drugs including Tramadol, Refinol, Cosine to mention a few, then urged them to be sensitive as drug dealers disguise the contents to deceive the youth.
Speaking further, Mr. Mani Iliyasu, the Assistant State Commander, Operation and Intelligence Unit who gave the closing remarks by reminding the corps member of the essence of the CDS group, and ultimately the NYSC scheme.
