DOMESTIC VIOLENCE DETRIMENTAL TO CHILD DEVELOPMENT SAYS Gender Vanguard CDS
The residents of Osun state have been advised against the practice of child abuse and domestic violence as this is detrimental to child growth and development. This was brought to the fore during a sensitization program by the Gender Vanguard CDS group in Osogbo at the popular Orisumbare market on Tuesday, 27th, August 2019.
The CDS President, Miss Olaide Barakat stated that the purpose of the program was birthed out of the need to halt the rate at which domestic violence and child abuse is treated with levity and to bring them to the realization that the menace is inimical to societal growth.
Miss Barakat further implored parents, guardians and elders to discipline children in ways that do not showcase child abuse or domestic violence but in ways healthy to child development and growth.
Meanwhile, Miss Adeshina Sikimillahi, a corps member also called for a stop in the sexual abuse of the girl child as sexually abused people have tendencies of becoming nymphomaniacs. Miss Sikimillahi who described nymphomanics as persons who have excessive sexual drive, called on the society to uphold the dignity of the girl child.
