A NATION'S MOST  IMPORTANT RESOURCE IS ITS PEOPLE - OSINBAJO


The Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Professor Yemi Osinbanjo has stated that a nation's most important resource is its people adding that investment in human capital development, particularly education and health is key to National growth.



Professor Yemi Osinbanjo stated this during a lecture on the 21st of September at the 8th convocation ceremony for the conferment of first, postgraduate and honorary degrees held at the University of Osun main campus, Osogbo, Osun state.





The Vice President in his  lecture entitled, " Six Decades of Chequered Nationhood : Nigeria still holds key to Africa's development", stated that the Nigerian government as a means for wealth creation and opportunities for young people, is keen towards infrastructure,  establishment of multiple industries which will promote productivity in all  spheres of the economy.

Osinbanjo speaking further on the means of wealth creation, noted that the government is particular about skill development as this is evident in the training of ten thousand Nigerians for the N power skill in software development which will Improve high productivity.

The Vice president, further stressed that Nigeria must follow the rules others have followed to become great, adding that the challenges surmounting the country are not new but can be conquered with good governance and an unwavering stand towards corruption.

He, therefore, implored Nigerians to promote unity in diversity as great nations are nations that bring disparaging entities to build a strong entity.


Meanwhile, the Governor of Osun State, Governor Gboyega Oyetola, implored the graduating students to be citizens with good character, bearing in mind the disciplines impacted In them by the university.

He, therefore, stated the government of Osun will continue to support the university at all times.
The event also had in attendance the Minister for Interior/former Governor of Osun State, Mr. Rauf Aregbesola, the NYSC State Coordinator,  Mr. Ayodele Adegoke who represented the Director-General,  Brig. Gen. Shuiabu Ibrahim,  and other revered personalities in the nation.
