IFE EAST AREA OFFICE CORPS MEMBERS EMPOWER MODAKEKE YOUTHS
Corps members in Ife East Area Office have organized a free vocational training in cosmetology and food processing for youths in Modakeke.
The vocational training was part of the program packaged for the youth summit organized by the members for youths in the community with the theme " Youth Empowerment and Leadership; Opportunities, Challenges and Prospect" on Thursday 19th September 2019.
The NYSC State Coordinator, Mr. Ayodele Adegoke who was represented at the event by the Zonal Inspector, Mr Alo Alaba, commended the organizers of the program and charged participants to make the best of the opportunity presented to them through the programme to empower themselves.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Local Government Inspector, Mr. Oniye Dare stated that the summit was to prepare today's youths for tomorrow's challenges and prospects.
According to him " corps members have been trained by the scheme and they, in turn, decided to step down the same training to the young ones who are coming up". He also charged corps members present to leverage on SAED and the various funding options made available by the scheme to aid their journey to self-reliance.
Correspondingly, the Chairman ANCOPS Modakeke and Principal Our Lady's High School Modakeke, Mrs Ogunyemi charged corps members and students present never to be afraid of pursuing their dreams. She called on the female among them to aspire to be the best in their chosen fields and career urging them not to refrain from aspiring to leadership positions in the society. She further enlightened the participants on the need to acquire good leadership qualities such as character building and emotional maturity, which according to her every good leader irrespective of gender must possess in order to succeed.
Also, speaking at the event, the Proprietor of Excel Intervention School, Modakeke, Dr Obayomi called for more funding of youth empowerment programs across the country positing that it will go a long way in curbing vices associated with the youths in the society. "let the money pumped into Big Brother Naija be used to train and empower the youths" he concluded.
The programme also had in attendance the Permanent Secretary SUBEB, Osun State, Alh. Fatai Kolawole, Honourable Councillors and Youth leaders of Modakeke.
