THE DIRECTORATE OF EMPLOYMENT TAKE CORPS MEMBERS THROUGH EDP LECTURE.
The NYSC Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development in collaboration with the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) took the 2019 Batch B stream II corps members through the Entrepreneurship Development Programme (EDP). The programme which is aimed at educating the corps members on the importance of skill acquisition and entrepreneurship development and how to write a good feasibility studies took place at the multipurpose hall of the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ede on Tuesday 27th August.
In the course of the lecture, the speaker, Mr. Bamidele O.A, the Asst. Chief Entrepreneurship Officer, NDE Osun State, sensitized the corps members on the need to become independent entrepreneurs upon the completion of their service year. He further presented to corps members, diverse ways on how to come up with business ideas, build business empires, as well as how to design a business plan and advised the corps members to see the need to generate business ideas rather than wait on the Government for white collar jobs.
Subsequently, the second speaker, Mr Oyekanmi Rasaq, the Chief Enterprises Development Officer, who enlightened the corps members on how to get grants from the government which would serve as startup capital for their choice of business, also stressed the need for corps members to study a couple of factors which includes the nature of the environment they find themselves, before venturing into any business.
Highlights of the event was the question and answer session, as well as the staging of a short playlet that aided a proper understanding of the topic of discourse.
