NDLEA CHARGES CORPS MEMBERS TO REFRAIN FROM DRUG ABUSE

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency Osun State Command  has charged the 1800 corps members deployed to the State for the 2019 Batch B stream II orientation course to refrain from drug abuse.
The charge was given during a sensitisation on "drug abuse and its consequences" by the Head of NDLEA on camp,  Mrs. Abdulmalik Adenike at the Permanent Orientation Camp, Ede on Wednesday 28th of August, 2019. sensitized NYSC Corp members on drug abuse and its consequences. The lecture which held at the camp's auditorium had in attendance the state coordinator, camp officials, and platoons 1-5 members. The speaker shed light on the definition of drug, its functions, and abuse.

Speaking further, she talked about the need for some drugs to be locked up and how narcotics, depressants, psychotropics, and stimulants adversely affect one's health. According to her, the number of youths taking hard drugs is on the increase and stressed the need to curb it .
In addition, she highlighted the four stages of drug abuse which comprised experimentation, occasional, regular, and addictive. While highlighting these stages, she indicated the rehab period each stage would require and emphasized the need for addicts to seek help while they still can.
In her conclusive remark, she explained how peer group and lack of parental care had birthed tons of drug addicts in the society. She then enjoined the corps members to abstain from drug addiction and other harmful practices.
