CORPS MEMBERS DECRY SEXUAL ABUSE; URGE STUDENTS TO SHUN PRACTICE

-Paul Okikia

In a bid to maintain law and order in the society, Community Development Groups, in Olorunda Local Government Area have engaged in a collaborative sensitization campaign against sexual abuse in the country.

The campaign which was geared towards tackling the havoc of sexual abuse, saw a large number of Corps members in attendance carrying flyers and placards with various inscriptions against the menace that has eaten deep among youths globally.

In his view, the President of Drug Free Quality Control CDS (DFQC), Mr. Bobby Bala, stated that the aim of the sensitization was to enlighten young ones on the dangers of the act.

Mr Bala, however, called on parents to educate their children on sexual crimes and know the kind of friends their kids associate with as recent survey carried out by United Nations indicates that 15% of young male and females have experienced sexual abuse which is a domestic violence.

One of the Corps members present, Miss Esther Galadima, further emphasized that it is imperative for government put more effort in curbing cases of rape in the society by punishing whoever is found guilty in the act.
