Olawale Enlightens Corps Members on Discipline and Reward
The Representive of the Assistant Director Corps Discipline and Reward NYSC Osun State, Mrs Olawale Veronica, has enlightened the 2022 Batch B Stream 1 Corps members on the etiquette required of them on Camp, and the duties of the Camp Court while delivering a lecture on Corps Discipline and Reward at the Multipurpose Hall of the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ede on Wednesday.
Olawale outlined the duties of the Branch to ensuring discipline among Corps members in the Camp and throughout their National service year. She described the Branch as the Carrot and Stick branch of the Scheme saddled with the responsibility of trying erring Corps members and recommending rewards for outstanding performance during the service year.
She further stated that the Branch discipline was responsible for the administration of justice and trial of cases of indiscipline, truancy, insubordination, abscondment and any other act that contravenes the NYSC Bye-laws and Act.
While speaking on the tasks assigned to the Camp Court, Olawale emphasised that cases to be heard by the Camp Court depended on the gravity of offence committed. She pointed out that instances of indiscipline such as fighting, stealing, insubordination, cultism, sexual abuse, among others were such that could be tried in the Camp Court while on Camp and the Disciplinary Committee outside of Camp.
However, she hinted that the Branch collaborates with government agencies to give award of excellence to deserving Corps members. According to her, such awards that could be given to most disciplined and outstanding Corps members include the Presidential National Honour Award, the State Honours Award, Chairman's Award and State Coordinator's Commendation.
She charged all Corps members to remain law abiding, stating that anyone who could get awards mentioned above especially the Presidential Award, had better chances of getting automatic employment with any Federal Government agency of their choice. She wished all the 2022 Batch B stream 1 members a fruitful service year.
