NYSC DG Visits Osun Camp, Tasks Corps Members to Shun Cultism
The NYSC Director General Brig. Gen. MK Fadah has tasked the 2022 Batch B Stream 1 Corps members to shun cultism and drugs abuse.
The Director General made this known during his working visit to the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ede on Wednesday. He congratulated the newly sworn in corps members on the successful completion of their course of studies from different institutions across the country which qualified them to be mobilised for the mandatory service.
Giving fatherly advise, Brig. Gen. Fadah implored the Corps members not to use the social media negatively rather that they should use it to propagate good, stressing that there is no society that is 100 percent perfect and without issues.
The Director General also charged members to maintain a high level of discipline as they go about the regimented life on Camp and also in their interaction with others. He stressed that discipline is a key factor in the actualisation of dreams and aspirations.
Speaking on Security, the Director General stated that the Scheme has put all the necessary arrangements in place for Corps members security and welfare while urging that corps members take care of their personal items and be security conscious at all times, taking cognizance of all the security tips they had been taught.
Brig. Gen. Fadah also charged the members to comply with the rules and regulations governing the Camp and abide with the do's and don'ts while stating that their problem is also his problem. "Your problem is my problem, your happiness is my happiness" he stated.
However, the DG hinted that the House of representatives have passed a bill for NYSC Trust Fund which will afford Corps members the opportunity to get a start up for what ever skill they will acquire during their service year through the SAED programme. He stressed the need for them to participate in the SAED In-camp and post-camp programme as such skills acquired will be an added advantage to them.
Earlier in her welcome address, the State Coordinator NYSC Osun State, Mrs Abdulwahab Olayinka thanked the DG for taking out time to visit the State.
She apprised the DG on the state of the Orientation Camp, number of Corps members deployed to the State stating that à total number of 1575 were registered comprising 747 males and 828 female.
She also used the opportunity to intimate the DG on some of the challenges bedeviling the Scheme in the State and also appealed to the fatherly heart of the DG to assist the Scheme in the State in the ongoing infrastructural renovation in the Orientation Camp.
The Director General ended his visit with a reward and encouragement to the three Corps Camp Directors, Over all parade commander, the Dance, band and man ó War and also gave gifts to all the Corps members.
