Not All Fire Are Fought With Water - Adefioye


The Head of Fire Service on Camp, ASF Adefioye Adeniyi has stated that not all fire incidents are combated with water stating there are some one must use fire extinguisher.



He enlightened 2022 Batch B Stream 1 Corps members deployed to Osun State in a lecture on Fire Safety at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ede on Saturday. Adefioye  charged Corps members to aquire knowledge about a lot of things. According to him, they have acquired knowledge on how to become wealth creators, they should also do well to get the right understanding of what to do in times of crisis or any circumstance to protect their lives and properties.

Adefioye stated that there are three things  present before fire outbreak: Oxygen which must be at least 16 percent, the second is Heat, stating ways heat can be transferred to include Convection, Radiation and Conduction, and thirdly, fuel must be present before a fire incident. He said that fuel can be present in three forms: solid, liquid and gas form.

He noted that if there is a fire incident the first thing is to identify the cause of fire so as to enable one to know what to use to fight the fire. 

He highlighted the different types of fire to include Class A, B, C, D, E and K. Speaking on class K fire, Adefioye stated that it is kitchen related mostly from gas cookers he however called on Corps members to identify the cause of fire and call the Fire Service for immediate response.

He advised that it is very important for every home to have a fire extinguisher. 

The lecture ended with practical fire fighting exercise.
