Corps Members Urged To Maximise the NHIS Free Healthcare Programme, GIFSHIP-n

The 2022 Batch A Stream II corps members deployed to Osun State and those dislodged from Lagos State have been sensitised on how to enroll in and benefit from the National Health Insurance Scheme’s (NHIS) new health programme for youth corps members: the Group, Individual, Family, and Social Health Insurance Programme (GIFSHIP-n).

Speaking at a plenary session held at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ede on Monday, the media personnel for the Scheme’s Oshogbo Branch, Mrs Teju Phillips, enlightened the corps members on the history, vision, mission, and benefits of the GIFSHIP-n programme.

According to her, GIFSHIP-n was created to help corps members have access to incentivised health care during their service year.

The NHIS, she said, achieves this through collaboration with Health Maintenance Organisations (HMOs) in the different geopolitical zones of Nigeria. These HMOs work hand-in-hand with the NHIS to provide corps members with high quality healthcare services funded by the Government. The programme covers the whole of the service year, right from the pre-orientation period to three weeks terminal leave after the passing out.

Corps members were urged to maximise the GIFSHIP-n Scheme during the service year.

Among the dignitaries present at the session were the State Coordinator NYSC Osun, Mrs Winifred Shokpeka, State Coordinator NHIS Osun, Mrs Nofisat Adekunle, NHIS Public Relations Officer, Mr Biodun Oyawola, Enrollment Officer, Mr Agunbiade Musa, as well as the Lifeworth HMO officer Osogbo, Dr. Adekoya.
