YOU SHOULD REFLECT A POSITIVE IMAGE OF THE NYSC - Okundaye
Mrs. Funmi Okundaye, the Assistant Director Press and Public Relations Unit, NYSC Osun State, has enlightened the 2021 Batch C Stream II corps members on their role in creating a positive image of the NYSC Scheme.
She said this while delivering the Press and Public Relations lecture at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ede on Thursday.
Okundaye outlined the three subunits of the Unit which include: Publicity, Publication and the New Media.
She explained that the PPRU is a unit that is directly under the Director General and the State Coordinator at the National and State level respectively.
She enlightened the corps members on the activities of the PPRU including production of in-house journals and end of year magazine, issuance of ID Cards to corps members, and giving professional advise to the Editorial Community Development Service Group and the Freedom of Information Act Vanguards.
Laying more emphasis on the core purpose of the PPRU, she explained the importance to the NYSC. “The PPRU is the image making arm of the NYSC", She added.
She further educated the corps members on behaviors not to engage in so as not to tarnish the image of the Scheme, such as truancy, indecent dressing, sexual immorality, wrong use of the social media, peddling rumours and fake news, granting press interview without authorisation, and more.
She concluded by encouraging the corps members to seek guidance from the PPRU if they were to be given an opportunity to publicly speak about the NYSC scheme.
