TEACHING IS A REPUTABLE PROFESSION - Odewunmi

 

Mrs Ruth Odewunmi, the Deputy Director, Public School, Ministry of Education, Osun State has intimated the 2021 Batch C Stream II corps members on the nobility of the teaching profession. 

She made this known while lecturing the corps members on Tuesday at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp Ede.

She started off by saying that teaching is one of the most reputable profession, in which teachers impact one way or the other upon the lives of others. 

"Teaching is a noble profession that requires ultimate commitment, patience and sacrifice" she added.

While speaking on the qualities of a teacher, Odewunmi stressed that a teacher must be a psychologist in other to detect what every child is going through at every point in time. She stated further that patience, communication, listening and interpersonal skills, amongst others are some of the qualities a teacher should possess while in a teaching environment. 

Furthermore, both male and female corps members are to be moderately dressed while in the teaching environment, as they act as role models and in loco parentis to their students.

She concluded by pointing out the importance of teachers involving the students in presentations and assignments.
