SC UNVEILS RED CROSS OFFICE, PLEADS FOR CONTINUAL SUPPORT FROM ALL
The NYSC Osun State Co-ordinator, Mrs Winifred Shokpeka, has called on corps members not to allow their demonstration of ground-shattering initiatives since the beginning of the Orientation Program end with the orientation but that they should extend it to their places of primary assignment and host communities.
She made this known while unveiling a new office for the Red Cross Volunteers refurbished by some of the 2021 Batch C Stream 1 corps members at the NYSC Osun State Permanent Orientation Camp, Ede, on Saturday.
Mrs. Shokpeka expressed her delight with the project while noting that it demonstrates that the mantra of taking responsibility and being Vanguards of change was well received by the corps members.
"Your attitude of noting gaps and working towards bridging them goes to show that corps members posted to Osun are truly leaders and I am happy for that. You all have honored me and I beseech the Almighty to honor you too,” she added.
One of the Vanguards, Kenneth Leonard, with state code OS/21C/0782, in his remarks said that they were motivated to carry out the project when they noticed that there was no designated office for Red Cross members and decided to do something about it.
The Red Cross Branch Secretary while speaking said that he was truly happy to notice the NYSC had not changed her mandate of instilling selflessness in the corps members. He said that he contributed when he was a corps member to the project embarked upon in the community where he served by the CDS group he belonged to then. He said it was truly inspirational to see the cycle of selfless service continue.
