NYSC Osun Promotes Made in Nigeria Products, Celebrates Ankara Night in Style

NYSC Osun State has taken a bolder step to promote made in Nigeria Products in the face of global westernisation. The Scheme in the State hosted the 2021 Batch C Stream 1 Ankara night at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp Ede on Wednesday.

The glamorous event which was sponsored by Sweet Maria, an artist who was an ex-corps member in the State, saw platoon representatives and camp officials rocking different styles and shades of the Ankara, a product proudly made in Nigeria.

The event had in attendance Honourables from the House of Rep and State House of Assembly, the State Coordinator and other principal camp officials. SweetMaria thrilled the audience with her liveband and sonorous Nigeria tunes.

While declaring the night open, the State Coordinator, Mrs Winifred Shokpeka charged the Corps members not to loose focus of the aim of organising such a programme.

According to her, NYSC will leave no stone in turn in ensuring the nation rises above all odds. She stated that the Ankara night is geared towards making corps members appreciate Nigerian products and the beauty and glamour embedded in our products.

She further stated that coming together under such a relaxed atmosphere, dancing to Nigeria tunes is needed for the wholesome socialisation, integration and wellbeing of the members.

She said the youths today have become so westernised that it is needful for the Scheme to remind them of the need to love, cherish and appreciate our culture and beautiful heritage as the foreigners do. According to her, this is why programmes like cultural carnival, cultural dance and drama, SAED among others have been introduced into the Scheme's curriculum for the service yea

The State Coordinator commended the Corps members for their team spirit and adherence to camp rules and regulations. She also commended them for their turn out during programmes which according to her is a show of loyalty, commitment and a sense of responsibility.

She intimated the Corps members on the need to continue to adhere to the COVID-19 protocols while having fun. She officially declared the night open by taking to the dance floor with other Camp officials.

The event saw beautiful array of styles and creativity from the representatives of the ten platoons. Platoon 9,1 and 10 came out first, second, and third position respectively, and were awarded with cash prizes and the other platoons with consolation prizes.

Other highlights of the events were dance presentations from all platoons with their respective platoon officers, dance presentation from camp officials, the OBS.
