EDUCATION SPECIALIST LECTURES CORPS MEMBERS ON CORE VALUES OF TEACHING
The Deputy Director, Public Schools, Osun State Ministry of Education, Mrs. Odewunmi Oluyemi has sensitized the 2021 Batch C Stream 1 Corps members on the core values of professional teaching.
During the lecture, which held at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ede on Tuesday, she enlightened the members on the different attributes of a teacher, the contents of lesson notes and plan, and the roles of a teacher.
In her lecture, she said that a teacher's duty is to help students acquire knowledge, be a surrogate parent to the children and a psychologist to detect the problem of any student.
She also mentioned that a good teacher should be able to communicate effectively, have good listening skills and a friendly attitude. "A good teacher should be patient, respectful, punctual, dress moderately and be role models to the students" - she added.
While concluding her lecture, she urged the corps members to be faithful and loyal to the Government, respect the authority of the Principal and other superiors, keep school information confidential, make necessary preparations for the lessons by preparing lesson notes, avoid sexual relations of any sort with the students and not to do anything that would tarnish the image of teachers in Osun State.
