SHOKPEKA STEPS IN AS ADEGOKE BOWS OUT AS OSUN STATE COORDINATOR





NYSC Osun State has once again witnessed a change of baton as Mr Ayodele Adegoke handed over the leadership of the Scheme in the State to Mrs Winifred Shokpeka. 

The handing over which took place at the State Secretariat on Monday had in attendance the outgoing and the incoming state coordinator and management staff of the Scheme in the State. 

Mr Ayodele Adegoke in his farewell address appreciated God for the grace to see the completion of his tenure in Osun State as State Coordinator. He further thanked members of staff for their loyalty and commitment to the lofty ideals of the Scheme which contributed immensely to the success recorded during his tenure. 

He appreciated them for keeping the bond of family and Unity. 

“We started well, and by the Grace of God, we are ending well. Thank you all for your support, love and cooperation in ensuring we made progress over this past few years," he added.

He offered prayers for the new State Coordinator Mrs. Winnifred Shokpeka, her family and the government of Osun State for wisdom to ensure a smooth running of affairs during her tenure. He then appreciated the Corps Members present for their diligence throughout his time in the state and urged them to keep up the good work as they welcome the new coordinator.

In her response, Mrs. Winifred Shokpeka appreciated her predecessor and his team for upholding the values of the Scheme across board. She equally thanked the outgoing coordinator for not only maintaining the ranking of the State but for raising it to an enviable state setting it as a standard for other States to emulate. 

She called on the management team, staff and corps members not to relent in exhibiting those virtues that has made them outstanding over the years. 

According to her, “NYSC family is one, leadership may change but the scheme's vision, mission and objectives remains the same. I therefore covet your prayers and utmost devotion in other to succeed. I promise to build upon the legacies of my predecessor to the best of my ability".  

She admonished the principal officers and heads of units to continue to give their best irrespective of who is in charge.

“The ultimate aim of our work here is to grow together, build together, achieve together and succeed together”. 

She ended by wishing her predecessor well even as he moves to the NDHQ in furtherance of the activities of the scheme and prayed for unprecedented open doors for him.

Mrs Winifred Shokpeka hails From Delta State and Bagged a Bachelor of Education in English and Literature from the prestigious University of Benin in 1992. She joined the scheme as an inspector after successfully completing her one year mandatory service to the nation in the Corps Welfare and Health Department of NYSC in 1993. 

She has worked in various State secrétariats like Kaduna, Niger, Lagos, Osun and Lagos again where she worked until her transfer to the NDHQ Abuja upon her promotion as Deputy Director. 

Before her transfer as State Coordinator, Mrs Shokpeka was the Deputy Director Discipline and Merit of the Corps Welfare and Health Services Department NDHQ, Abuja. Her penchant for excellence has earned her several awards and commendations from Director Generals and  management of the Scheme at all levels. 

Her maxim is finding herself and being the best of herself and also working with and helping young people discover and stay grounded in the right path. 

The meeting ended with the presentation of the handover notes from the outgoing to the incoming state coordinator of NYSC Osun State.
