CONTRIBUTE YOUR QUOTA TO NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT - CAMP DIRECTOR

The 2021 Batch C Stream 1 Camp Director, Mrs Funmi Okundaye has admonished the prospective corps members to contribute  their own quota to national development. 

She made this known while addressing the prospective corps members during the first morning meditation at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ede on Thursday. 

While addressing them, she enlightened the PCMs on the objectives of the NYSC which includes national integration and unity, inculcating self discipline amongst youths, instiling self-reliance in them through skill acquisition, among others. 

Furthermore, she highlighted the importance of thethree weeks orientation course, "the course is designed to train and educate you on the ethics of NYSC as well as getting you prepared for life during and after the service year" she added. 

She enlightened them on why they are being referred as prospective corps members stating that they would be referred to as so until they are sworn in as bona-fide members of the Scheme by the Chief Judge of the State. 

While concluding her speech, she encouraged PCMs to be up and doing, as their active  participation would go a long way in determining how the camp would be. Taking a charge, she had the PCMs make a commitment to themselves and NYSC that "nothing on earth would make me allow anyone go to bed miserably on account of my actions".

Speaking on health, she enjoined PCMs with health challenges to report to the camp clinic so they can receive adequate care. She further urged them not to be secretive about their health status as the officials of the Scheme stand in locoparentis to them and are ever ready to help them. 

Other highlights of the event include: the teaching of the various anthem by the head of publicity and protocol, Mrs Catherine Otemuyiwa, and birthday felicitations with celebrants.
