NYSC OSUN STATE COORDINATOR INAUGURATES COVID-19 TASK FORCE

 

The NYSC Osun State Coordinator, Mr Ayodele Adegoke has inaugurated a Covid-19 task force on camp to help ensure the strict compliance and obedience to the protocols that help to prevent the spread of the dreaded disease.

The Committee comprised of various heads of units on camp, the corps camp director, platoon leaders and corps volunteers from all the various platoons.

Earlier, the Representative for the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), Dr. Ayoola Ademola has said that the right knowledge about Covid-19 will go a long way in helping people make right decisions when it comes to prevention and early detection.

He made this statement at the Multipurpose Hall of the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ede on Monday. 

The medical expert went on to explain that a 'reservoir', a term used for the carrier of the virus, is not limited to humans, but also other animals. He said after the virus gained access to the human body after it has made a kind of affinity with the respiratory system, which is the process of transmission and infection.

"Understandably, the prevention measures seemingly strict, but they must be adhered to. Our first responsibility to stop the spread of this menace is by taking the COVID-19 vaccine but above all, adhering to the strict protocols preventing the spread of the deadly virus. 

"In simplified term, the virus has an opening at which it is being transmitted to its environment that can be called "Portal of Exit" and the "Portal of Entry" and that is, the process at which the virus travels and is being inhaled and affected by another. 

       

"Hence the reservoir is then advised to stay clear of his/her/its environment as well as being isolated away from the environment so as not to infect others.

"And as a prevention, we strongly recommend the use of face mask, washing of the hand, hand sanitizing, social distancing among other preventive measures", he said.
