Nysc Partners Government On Home-Grown School Feeding Programme
The National Youth Service Corps Osun State has partnered with the Federal Government in the ongoing enrollment and enumeration of beneficiaries for the Home-Grown School Feeding Program.
The Governor of Osun State, Alh. Adegboyega Oyetola has on Wednesday flagged off the enumeration and enrolment of beneficiaries of the National Home-Grown School Feeding Programme across public primary schools in the State.
The ceremony which took place at the Staff Development Centre, Osogbo commemorates the beginning of the school feeding program which aims at improving the overall health of school children in the State by providing them with food that is safe, healthy, nutritious and home grown.
The Governor who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prince Wole Oyebamiji, has said that the idea of the feeding program is designed to help reduce the level of hunger and starvation across the state among school children.
Again, he encouraged all monitoring agents to remain true to the assignment they have been given and ensure they continue to remain accountable.
Present at the official flag off ceremony of the Program were Corps members drawn from various local governments across the State.
The corps members present at the flag off are part of the monitoring team for the program who have began to receive training at the NYSC State Secretariat Osogbo to enable them assist in the enumeration and enrolment of school children and schools for the Home-Grown Feeding program.
Mr Lukman Abimbola Bello, the Osun State Focal Person kicked off the event with his welcome address, he appreciated the concerted effort of everyone who has made the laudable initiative a reality.
Speaking also was Mr. Matthew Dada, the representative of the Hon. Minister for Humanity Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Hajia Sarita Umar Farouq. He explained the importance of the scheme to the socioeconomic development of the country and the sustainability of Osun State.
Furthermore, he emphasised the need for proper monitoring to ensure accountability and sustainability of the scheme.
“Every independent monitor will be held accountable for the scheme” he added.
In like manner, school children who are recipients of the program appreciated the government for the initiative and encouraged them to keep up the good job.
