OSUN STATE GOVERNMENT HOSTS NYSC PRESIDENTIAL AWARDEES
The Government of Osun State has hosted four recipients of the NYSC presidential honours award who are indigenes of the State at the Bola Ige House, Osogbo on Thursday.
This was done in a bid to appreciate the Ex-corps members for being worthy ambassadors of the State in their respective States of deployment during the service year and to serve as a point of reference for other youths and corps members to emulate.
Speaking at the occasion, the Governor of Osun state Mr Adegboyega Oyetola who was ably represented by the Deputy Governor, Mr Benedict Olugboyega Alabi congratulated the four awardees on their accomplishments which he described as no common feat as many were mobilized for the service year but only a few were recognized for their meaningful impact and lasting legacies in their States of deployment.
He charged them to continue to be good ambassadors of the State and the country at large and also maintain a positive disposition towards life.
"Your selflessness in all you have done is truly outstanding. What you have achieved is not a common feat inspite of the prevailing situation in the country.
"It shows we still have youths who know what they are doing and this is indeed a source of hope for us all".
Furthermore, he charged them to see the medals they have received as a call to higher responsibilities and therefore they should strive to always live above board.
Earlier, the NYSC Osun State Coordinator, Mr Ayodele Adegoke who was represented by the Assistant Director Corps Inspection and Monitoring, Mr Jimmy Fatogun expressed his delight at the feat accomplished by awardees and announced to the delight of the house that automatic employments, scholarship to PhD level, cash rewards, among others are part of the package awarded to the 110 recipients of the Presidential Honours Award which took place on Thursday, 11th February, 2021 in Abuja.
According to Mr Fatogun, the award is one of the ways through which the NYSC scheme recognises the selfless service of corps members.
Again, he stressed the fact that NYSC duly monitors all the activities of its corps members right from the orientation camp and therefore encouraged serving corps members to serve wholeheartedly without any form of reservations.
Furthermore, he charged the now ex-corps members not to relent in their good deeds but to continue to render selfless service and show love and kindness to the people around them as that is the way to make the society better.
The four awardees are: Mr Salako Olumide Tony who hails from Boluwaduro LGA of Osun State and served in Kogi State with code number KG/18C/0374; Dr. Adeoye Adetayo Adeleke from Ife Central LGA who also served in Kogi State with code number KG/17B/0198; Miss Odeyemi Victoria Yemisi from Ayedaade LGA who served in Bayelsa State with code number BY/18C/1523; and Mr Olaleye Isaac Olayemi from Ilesa East LGA who served in Kebbi State.
They improved upon the lives of the people of their host communities through the provision of borehole to supply portable drinking water for the community, provision of free antenatal care for 500 pregnant women, provision of staff toilets, organization of computer trainings and tutorials in various subjects, distribution of free sanitary pads, uniforms and stationeries to students, amongst many others.
