The COVID-19 Vaccine Is Not The Biblical Mark Of The Beast - Dr. Ayoola
Dr. Ayoola Ademola, an expert from NCDC said the COVID-19 vaccine is not the mark of the beast as misconstrued by some.
Ayoola made the statement on Wednesday, while enlightening the 2021 Batch A corps members on the various misconceptions and misinformation surrounding the COVID-19 vaccines and their development, at the Permanent Orientation Camp, Ede.
Ayoola, who facilitated the COVID-19 sensitisation, stated that COVID-19 was first traced in an animal market in WUHAN China and it is transmitted from human to human through coughing and sneezing as it is a respiratory virus that spreads primarily through droplets generated when an infected person coughs or sneezes, or through droplets of saliva or discharge from the nose.
He went further to mention that there are two types of symptoms; the symptomatic and asymptomatic.
He implored everyone to adhere strictly to the preventive measures that have been proven to control the virus which include proper use of alcohol-based hand sanitizers, washing of hands often with soap and water, using of face masks, using proper cough etiquette like coughing into a disposable tissue, avoiding social gatherings and avoiding close contact with infected persons.
He advised the Corps members to be responsible for themselves, others around them and the larger society.
He mentioned that COVID-19 vaccine has been developed in a very short time and that there are various types of vaccine which include the Novavax, morderna, Johnson & Johnson, the AstraZeneca and so on.
He educated the Corps members on the main vaccine used in Nigeria which is the Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine, it is said to have an efficacy of 63.09% against the corona virus.
He stated that if one has taken a particular vaccine for their first dose, then the exact type of vaccine should be used for the second dose.
According to Dr. Ayoola, there are about 64,000 vaccines in Osun State which will be administered in four stages: the frontline workers, the elderly, those with health conditions and lastly, those within the ages of 18 and 49 years. He went further to say that the vaccines are not administered to children and pregnant women due to the likely side effects of the vaccine.
He assured the Corps members that the vaccine had been reviewed by the World Health Organization (WHO) before it's arrival in the country. He also added that once an individual is infected with the virus, the vaccine can not be administered until the individual is tested negative from the virus.
