DO NOT CUT CORNERS - DIRECTOR GENERAL ADVICES CORPS MEMBERS

The Director General NYSC, Brig. Gen. Shuaibu Ibrahim advised the  2021 Batch A corps members to avoid cutting corners as this always has dire consequences. He also warned them  to desist from paying for or influencing their deployment or relocation during the service year.

The Director General made the statement in his virtual address to  Corps members and all camp officials nationwide on Wednesday.

He also stressed on the importance of the four distinct cardinal programmes of the NYSC which have been designed to achieve the mandate of raising a crop of disciplined, patriotic, egalitarian and self reliant youth force to  bring about national integration and socio-economic development of the nation.

Speaking on the skill acquisition program, the Director General encouraged the members to pursue their dreams with passion and commitment. He urged them to leverage on the platform provided by the scheme to make them self reliant and productive during the service year, admonishing them to key into the various youth empowerment programs of the Federal Government as this will help them in the achievement of their dreams.

He also spoke briefly on the COVID-19 pandemic and how it has affected the world. He enlightened Corps members on the dangers inherent in neglecting their health and admonished them to always have their nose masks worn properly and to ensure strict compliance to

 all other COVID-19 preventive protocols.

Brig.Gen. Shuaibu warned the Corps members against embarking on unnecessary travels during their course of service. He stated that traveling is only permitted if there is an official approval from the appropriate authority. He also told the members to board vehicles at designated parks whenever they are embarking on approved journeys, for their safety.

He told them to always dress properly as responsible youths saddled with a huge responsibility of uniting and building the nation and  tasked them to utilize the social media  positively and productively.

Corps members were further encouraged by the Director General to adhere to all the security tips they have been given and to ensure they study their environment critically in order to be at an advantage when emergencies arise.

" Be wary of scammers who parade themselves as agents of the scheme on social media. Remember, deployment and relocation are free. Always ensure you visit our authentic website  and social media handles for information".

He said further that corps members should not hesitate to report cases of sexual harassment and extortion in camp or at their places of primary assignment.
