Proper Planning Prevents Poor Performance - Rev. Sobalaje
Rev. Sobalaje has enlightened corps members on teaching methodology and effective classroom etiquettes at the ongoing 2021 Batch A orientation course at the Permanent Orientation Camp, Ede on Thursday.
The Senior Inspector explained the meaning of teaching as a process of impacting worthwhile knowledge to another in a morally acceptable manner, which according to him, could be a formal, informal or non formal education.
He adumbrated the some of the methodologies used in teaching to include: discussion, play-away, lecture and excursion method. He stated that two or more methodologies can be combined in teaching a topic.
He charged the would be teachers to abide by the ethics of the teaching profession. According to him, proper planning prevents poor performance in the classroom.
" Have a good introduction, be disciplined, punctual and modest. Avoid the use of vulgar words or abusive words. Make the students see the topics as being very simple. Always commend, comment and recommend"
Rev. Sobalaje admonished the Corps members to ensure that their phones are on silence while teaching and that they should avoid the distractions of phones while in the classroom.
He equally gave them some tips on classroom management and highlighted the importance of proper record keeping and the use of a well prepared lesson note during teaching.
