Fire prevention is better than Fire control- Fed. Fire Service Admonishes Corps Members

 

The Federal Fire Service, Osun State Command, has admonished the 2021 Batch A Stream 1 corps members on the need to prevent fire outbreak as it is easier to stop the action than to control it.

The admonition took place at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ede on Friday. 

 The representative of the Fire Service, DSF Olajide Ademola emphasized on the need for corps members to be vigilant and careful both at home and in public places in order to ensure the safety of themselves and their environment.

In discussing fire outbreaks, he said that there is a need for corps members to build courage and boldness in order to defeat a raging fire. Without courage, it becomes totally impossible to survive a fire accident. 

Furthermore, he explained that negligence and carelessness are major causes of fire outbreak and that they must be very careful.

"We must always monitor our gadgets and ensure that proper repair is done when they are damaged, he added.

Again, he highlighted the elements of fire to be oxygen, fuel and heat and said that only heat can be controlled. He pleaded with them to be careful not to allow these elements come together.

To conclude the lecture, corps members were taken through practical fire fighting session with the fire extinguisher and other safety devices.
