PROMOTING GENDER EQUALITY: A MEANS FOR ACHIEVING SDG

 

The Sustainable Development Goals Group of Olorunda Local Government is a part of the Community Development Service (CDS) of the National Youth Service Corps.

The group led by the CDs President, Nwalaka Martin has on the 28th of January, 2021 executed an awareness and sensitisation program at the Adenle Grammar (Middle) School, Ayetoro, Osogbo as a part of their Community Development Service. 

Speaking at the event tagged “Nigeria and the need for gender equality in the Educational system”, Corp member Agboola Nafeesat in her speech emphasised the need for Gender Equality in all areas of life and especially the Educational System.

In attaining this goal, she admonished the students particularly the female gender to actively participate in all educational activities by taking up positions and responsibilities in the school and studying hard to attain excellence. 

Subsequently, in the course of the program, the Corp members enlightened the students about the seventeen (17) United Nations Sustainable Development Goals where she further explained the importance of attaining them.

The principal, Mrs Olomola Bolanle appreciated the effort of the Corp members in carrying out the program, describing it as a timely intervention and prayed for the corps members.

The program ended with presentation of gift items from the CDs Group  to the school
