INEC IN COLLABORATION WITH WEST MINSTER FOUNDATION EDUCATES CORPS MEMBERS ON ELECTORAL PROCESSES

 

Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in collaboration with West Minster Foundation for Democracy,  has educated the 2020 Batch B Stream 2 Corps Members on Electoral Process and Relevance of Youths Participation in Politics.

Speaking at the lecture on Friday, the representative of the West Minster Foundation For Democracy (WMF), Mr Adebowale Olorunmola Who spoke during the sensitization, told the corps members that they need to change the way politics is played in Nigeria.

"Nigeria should emulate politics of service, transparency, accountability in order to move the country forward", he added. 

Speaking further, he appreciated the NYSC for giving them the platform to directly get in touch with young people stressing that this will go a long way in enhancing youths participation in decision making in the country thereby leading to the advancement of the country. 

Meanwhile, Mr Sunday Onyike who spoke on behalf of NYSC stated that the scheme has over the years been collaborating with Governmental and non-Governmental (NGOs) Organizations and many others and WFM has proven to be a credible and reliable partner.

He further charged the corps members to volunteer selflessly to join the INEC CDS group in order to participate in the new partnership program between NYSC, WMB, and INEC. 

Subsequently, representative of Osun State INEC, Mrs Ibikunle Susan, said that the main aim for the partnership is to sensitize people; churches, mosques, and markets on the importance of voters registration and benefits of participating in elections.
