NYSC Scheme is Meant to Inculcate the Spirit of Selfless Service and Discipline - Mr Adegoke Informs Prospective Corps Members
The NYSC Osun State Coordinator, Mr Ayodele Adegoke has given the 2020 Batch B, Stream 1B prospective corps members a breakdown of the NYSC Scheme as he describes it as a way of inculcating the spirit of selfless service and discipline in Nigerian graduate youths.
He stated this while briefing the prospective corps members on the nitty-gritty of the service year at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ede, On Monday.
Mr Adegoke explained that the goal of the NYSC, among others, was to inculcate discipline, and raise the moral tone of corps members in order to get them to contribute to the socioeconomic development of the nation.
He further elaborated on the four cardinal programmes of the NYSC which include: Mobilization and Orientation where corps members are made to prepare for their unique roles during their service year; the Primary Assignment, which comes after the orientation course aimed at familiarizing corps members with the work environment for gainful employment after service; the Community Development Service, designed to get corps members to contribute meaningfully to the community; and the Winding Up/ Passing Out Parade, which draws the curtain over the service year.
He also reminded them of the swearing in ceremony coming up on Tuesday, 6th December 2020, and encouraged them to maintain a sense of commitment all through their service year.
In conclusion, he admonished the prospective corps members to champion any activity they feel will contribute immensely to nation building, as he wished them a successful swearing in ceremony.
