"LEAVE A LEGACY AT YOUR HOST COMMUNITIES "- ADEGOKE ADMONISHES CORPS MEMBERS

The NYSC Osun State Coordinator, Mr Ayodele Adegoke has admonished the 2020 Batch B Stream 1B corps members to leave a legacy at their host communities in order to contribute to national growth and development.

He said this while debriefing the corps members at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ede, On Monday.

According to Mr Adegoke, Community Development Service is one of the core cardinal Programmes of the scheme and should be utilized in fostering the socioeconomic development of the country.

"Community Development Service (CDS) is important and you must ensure you attend CDS meetings at least three times in a month in order to be able to do your monthly biometrics", he said.

Speaking further he warned the members against using the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) post camp training as an excuse to absent themselves from their places of primary assignment during working days, adding that it is a punishable offence.

"NYSC did not provide any special day for SAED post camp training, do not use SAED day as excuse to leave your PPA because it will attract extension of service.

"You are expected to utilise your free time and days to do your SAED and ensure you do what you have passion for", he added.

He also urged the corps members to be security conscious, mindful of who they associate with, always walk in groups and avoid partisan politics and politicians in order to keep themselves safe throughout the service year.

He told them to follow the right channel of communication if they need to make complaints and ensure that they do not grant press interview as it is against the NYSC Acts and Bye-Laws.

"Endeavour you follow the right channel of communication, which is:

the Director General,

through the Area Director,

through the State Coordinator,

Through the Assistant Director Corps Inspection and Monitoring,

through the Zonal Inspector, through the

 LGI", he said.

In addition he warned them to avoid unauthorised and night traveling within and outside the state.

He equally, reminded them that COVID-19 is real and they should ensure they sensitize people at their places of primary assignment on the need to adhere to the COVID-19 preventive protocols.

Also, he told the corps members that there is reward for good work and  sanctions for indiscipline in NYSC as he encourage them to be good ambassadors of their family and the scheme during and after their service year.
