"IF WE MUST ERADICATE CORRUPTION AND SECRECY, FOIA MUST BE WELL UTILIZED"- OTEMUYIWA
The NYSC Osun State Desk Officer for Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), Mrs Catherine Otemuyiwa has told the 2020 Batch A and Batch B Stream 1B Corps members that eradicating corruption and secrecy in Nigeria will require the utmost utilization of Freedom of Information Act.
She stated this while enlightening the corps members on Freedom of Information Act at the multipurpose hall of the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ede, on Friday.
According to Mrs Otemuyiwa, FOIA was enacted to promote citizenship engagement and participation in governance and give them easy access to information that is important and vital to the citizens.
Subsequently she assured the corps members that FOIA does not only give you access to information and demand transparency, but also protects your personal and security information as she encouraged them to participate in ensuring that FOIA awareness gets to the doorstep of every Nigerian through sensitization and enlightenment.
She concluded by encouraging the corps members to join the FOIA vanguards in order to assist in sensitizing their host communities thereby making FOIA known to everyone.
