Be Alert and Aware of Your Surroundings - Mr Damjay Tells Prospective Corps Members
Mr Damjay Jiyaba of the Department of State Service, Osun State command, has told the 2020 Batch B stream 1B prospective corps members to be alert and aware of their surroundings in order to stay safe during their service year.
He stated this while addressing the prospective corps members during the security lecture at the multipurpose hall of the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ede, on Monday.
According to Mr Damjay, security is important for the safety of every human and should be the number one personal priority during the service year.
He further warned the prospective corps members against engaging in political, tribal and religious arguments and urged them to be apolitical and neutral when expressing personal opinions on such issues.
He also implored the prospective corps members to avoid rigid routine and being too predictable as this can pose a risk. He advised them to give room for changes in the timing, route and places they take or visit as allowing such unpredictability can reduce the threat to their lives.
"Avoid fake agents, be at alert and aware, avoid night journeys, do not wear ear plugs while on the road and avoid the habit of leaving your house key underneath the footmat", he added.
In conclusion, he advised the members to look out for one another and report any suspicious movements or persons they see around them.
