”Your NYSC Service Year is Aimed at Awakening a Sense of Collective Responsibility in you- Mr Adegoke

The State Coordinator of the NYSC Osun State, Mr Ayodele Adewale Adegoke  has stated that the NYSC year is aimed at awakening a sense of collective responsibility in all PCMs and encouraged them to promote unity in the camp urging  them to disregard tribalism or religious discrimination during and after the orientation course.

He made the statement while briefing the prospective members at the Permanent Orientation Camp, Ede on Sunday. 

According to him, "the promotion of unity in Nigeria is one of the key objectives of the NYSC Scheme and this will only be achieved by the PCMs interaction  with their new environment".

During the course of the address, the State coordinator announced that the swearing in ceremony of the PCMs would be coming up on Monday 16th of November and would be low key. 

Subsequently, he informed the PCMs that immediately after their orientation exercise, they will be posted to their Place of Primary Assignment (PPAs) with the aim of familiarising themselves with the tenets of the work place environment  especially in key sectors such as Agriculture,  Education,  health and infrastructure. 

"In addition, as part of  Community Development Service, NYSC encourages personal and group development for corps members. Such developments  attract rewards which is given to those Corps members who prove to be leaders and innovators in their community" Adegoke Stated.

He also reiterated the core principle of the Orientation course which is discipline stating that discipline is paramount in camp and even after the orientation course.

 He further announced the commissioning  of a "Camp Court" which would be responsible for trying erring prospective corps members and enforcing sanctions.  

The state coordinator also reminded the members of the need to stay true to the covi-19 protocols. 

In conclusion, he wished PCMs the best as they prepare for their swearing in ceremony which marks the formal commencement of their orientation course while encouraging them to join the various committees and groups in the orientation camp.
