To Become Self-reliant Make Skill Acquisition A Priority - Adegoke Charges Corps Members
The NYSC Osun State Coordinator, Mr Ayodele Adegoke has charged the 2020 Batch B stream 1A corps members to embrace the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development programme (SAED) and make it a Priority in order to attain self-reliance and contribute to the socioeconomic development of the nation.
The state coordinator made this Known on Tuesday at the flag off of the Entrepreneurship Development Programme (EDP) and the In-camp training of the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development programme held at the multipurpose hall of the Permanent Orientation Camp, Ede.
"SAED is the answer to high rate of unemployment in the country. If many of us had been exposed to the opportunities you are exposed to today during our time, some of us would not be where we are today.
"don't let this opportunity slip through your fingers, leverage on it and ensure you add value to yourselves" he said.
Meanwhile, the Head of SAED, Mrs Olufunmilayo Femi-Ajayi also advised the Corps members to take active part in the SAED programme and ensure that they choose a skill that will change their life positively and contribute to nation building. According to her, the SAED has been made mandatory for all members of the scheme.
She said this while delivering her opening remark at the flag off ceremony.
She further charged the Corps members to be productive and disregard focusing on " white collar job alone", the pursuit of which leaves the youths frustrated and depressed.
"instead, learn a skill that can keep you gainfully engaged while waiting for a white collar job" she ended.
Correspondingly, the corps members were motivated to develop an entrepreneurship spirit by Mr Segun Oduyebo, an author and a public speaker. He charged the corps members to increase their worth by adding value to themselves.
The EDP lecture which kick-start today was handled by officers of the National Directorate of Employment, Mr Oyekanmi Razak and Mr Bamidele Gbenga.
