Southwest Director Awards Corps Medical Personnel and NCDC team for Exceptional Performance


The Director, NYSC Southwest Area Office, Mr Emmanuel Attah has on Friday awarded corps medical personnel and the NCDC team for their exceptional performance at the commencement of the orientation course in Osun State. 

According to him, their selfless service ensured that corps members and camp officials stay safe during the orientation. The Corps members, who were trained by the NCDC team prior to the commencement of the orientation on sample collection, how to run the covid-19 test, among other covid-19 related issues made themselves available at the Permanent Orientation Camp to screen participants for covid-19 before been allowed into the camp.

"this is truly heroic and worthy of commendation. Sixteen corps medical personnel along four surveillance officers from NCDC risked it all,  placing their well-being on the line just to ensure all camp participants are protected " he said.

 The Director who was ably represented by Mr Kayode Ola-Peters, while commending the team called on the 2020 Batch B  stream 1A corps members to emulate the teams selflessness and good deeds and ensure  they also keep a good record, assuring them that their legacy will not go unnoticed. 

Attah further reminded the Corps members on the need to adhere to COVID-19 precautionary measures and avoid self medication.

"If you ever feel any symptoms, do not fail to report to the clinic for proper test" , he said.

He reemphasised on the need for them to avoid frivolous journeys as the yuletide season is fast approaching. He urged them to always ensure they obtain written approval from the state coordinator before embarking on any journey and that they should also respect the NYSC uniform by totally refraining from defacing it. 

Earlier, the state Coordinator, Mr Ayodele Adegoke, while  welcoming the Director,  appreciated him  for deeming it fit to visit the corps members during the orientation. He briefed him on the comportment of the members describing them as disciplined and responsible members who have been adhering to the protocols spelt out by the NCDC.

Adegoke further commended the medical team and the IPC members for working tirelessly and in synergy with the management to ensure an hitchfree and pandemic-free orientation is achieved. 

He thereafter urged the Corps members to keep doing good, assuring them that NYSC  is a scheme that recognises and rewards hardwork  and excellence. 

"what our Director has just done is a reflection of what NYSC is. It is a scheme that recognises and rewards hardwork and excellence among corps members and officials.

"Therefore,  whatever you are doing,  know that the scheme is watching you. Be encouraged to do good always not for the reward but to better the lives of humanity. Your greatest reward comes when you impart a life positively" he added. 

He concluded by extending his regards to the Director, appreciating him for rewarding the NCDC team and the corps medical personnel, Stressing that this will go a long way in motivating them and others around them in contributing positively to Nation building.

The NCDC team who were awarded are: the State Surveillance Officer,  Mr Fafioye Rasaq O;  Member of the IPC and state COVID-19 team, Dr Ayoola Ademola; the NCDC Surveillance Officer, Mr Stephen Ohuneni  and 16 corps medical personnel who were given plaques, certificates of commendation and cash gifts by the Director.
