Carnival is Meant to Promote Our Culture and Enlighten Us on Their Differences- Mr Adegoke
The State Coordinator of the NYSC Osun State, Mr Ayodele Adegoke has on Saturday told the 2020 Batch A and Batch B stream 1A corps members that carnival is meant to promote our culture and enlighten us on cultural differences.
According to Mr Adegoke, culture of other people is meant to be respected but before that, we have to understand the culture in order to know how to relate with the people of that particular culture.
"Pay attention to the culture of other people and ensure that you do not disrespect them afterwards", he added.
He further stated that Carnival is not only meant to entertain but to also teach and make us understand the dos and don'ts of other people's culture.
He admonished the corps members to adhere to the rules of social distancing, use their face masks and sanitize their hands while displaying their various cultural heritage as he declares the carnival ceremony open.
Meanwhile, the show was graced by representatives of the Nigerian Breweries PLC and Hon. Ajilesoro, a member of the House of Representatives, representing Ife federal constituency, Who received awards of excellence respectively from the State Coordinator for their support and sponsorship of social activities during orientation programmes in the State.
Other highlights of the event aside the interplatoon cultural display includes; dance from the medical team, drama from the OBS crew, and presentation from the Band and Man 'o' War team.
Conclusively, platoon 8 emerged winner of the interplatoon cultural presentation after an amazing TIV cultural display, while platoon 6 and 5 that presented the Igbo and Fulani culture took the second and third position respectively.
