NYSC at 47: Corps Members Distribute Face Masks, Donate Palliatives to Orphanage Homes.


Amidst the fight against the novel COVID-19 pandemic, Corps members in Osun State commemorated the 47th anniversary of the humanitarian scheme by living out its motto of service and humility across the State.


Corps members serving in Ede North Local Government Area of  Osun State, on Wednesday donated palliatives comprising of food items and other sundry items to De-Shalom Orphanage and Welfare home.


The corps members were led by the Osun State Coordinator, Mr Ayodele Adegoke and accompanied by the Ede North Local Government Inspector, Mr Dapo Aderombi and other officials of the scheme.

 Mr Adegoke, in his address, said the scheme has deemed it fit to extend services to humanity through children's welfare. He also applauded the management of the orphanage home for taking care of children who will become great leaders in the future.


Also, the Lord's Heritage Orphanage home for the physically challenged and orphans was visited in the same vein with relief items.

Receiving the palliative, Coordinator of the orphanage home, Mrs Temitope Isaac appreciated the scheme for remembering the home at a time like this.

She further stated that the NYSC is the first organisation to make such huge donations ever since the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic began.

She appreciated the scheme for making a positive impact in her life, during and after her service year. According to her,  the passion to take care of the physically challenged and abandoned children was ignited in her during her service year.

"The scheme's encouragement of selfless service through community development service sparked the flame of selfless service in me then and now" she said.

Correspondingly, corps members in Olorunda Local Government Area also donated foodstuffs to the Abiye Orphanage home in Olorunda on Wednesday.

The Assistant Director, Community Development Service, Mr Kayode Peters, representing the State Coordinator, was accompanied by the Olorunda and Osogbo Local Government Inspector, Mr Dolapo Stephen and Mr Olatunji Segun respectively.

The corps members donated cartoons of noodles, a bag of rice, packs of spaghetti, among others to portray their love for humanity.

Receiving the items, the Assistant Administrative Officer of the orphanage home, Mrs Bukola Adegoke appreciated the scheme for the donations.

Meanwhile, as part of the initiative of the National Youth Service Corps NYSC to aid the country in the fight against the COVID-19, Corps members in Iwo Local Government axis of Osun State donated four hundred face masks to government officials and others in the local government.

The donation of the face masks produced by the corps members was made at Odo Ori and Iwo local government axis of the state.


Aside from the donation and distribution of face masks,  the corps members equally donated palliatives to the Child Orphanage home.

 The programme had in attendance the Chairman of the Local Government, Hon. Raji Kamoru; the Zonal inspector of Osogbo Zone, Mr. Adediran Johnson, the LGI Iwo, Mrs Ajibola Adetutu, among others.



The various donation was a low-key commemoration of the 47th anniversary of the scheme by corps members serving in the local governments, as the world continues to battle the COVID-19 pandemic.
