OWAM sensitizes Osun residents, corps members on need to maintain clean environment


The General Manager of Osun Waste Management (OWMA), Mr. Oyewole Oladosu has urged Osun state residents and corps members to keep their environment clean.

However, Mr Oladosu lamented over neglect of the environment to dirtiness and pollution.

He warned that Impending doom is waiting to happen at the rate of environmental neglect if the attitude of individuals is not changed towards maintaining good sanitation.

The General Manager, during a lecture at the 2019 batch C welcome program and handing over ceremony of the Environmental Protection and Sanitation Group (EPSG) CDS, tagged "Quest for Environ-Cognizance" held in Osogbo on Wednesday said, "maintaining clean environment will enhance the health of the people in the place and if that is not done, then, worst can happen."

He said, "there is the need to know that our environment is sensitive, thereby we must harness its abundant resources without compromising the quality. He states the importance of the “Mary Douglas” theory of Fragility and Succulent as it enables proper care and being environ-cognizance.

The National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA) State Coordinator, Mr Mohammed Maike urged the new corps members of the board to take whatever they are learning at the Community Development Service seriously.

He said there is still a lot to be done through awareness and encouragement in respect to environmental sanitization and all hands must be on deck”.

Present at the ceremony is the National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA) State Coordinator, Osun state, Mr Muhammad Maike, Mr Siamak Mansouri, NYSC Oshogbo Local Government Inspector Mr Oladosu and other officials from OWMA and NASREA respectively.
