Religion and the Community by Eberechi

Religion and the Community by Eberechi.
Religion is an important part of every community. These two entities are inseparable. They need each other to thrive. Religion to the community is like soul to the body.

A community is a group of people that share a common understanding, bounded by same law, share common manners, tradition, same way of doing things and share same language.

Religion is a social-cultural system of designated behaviors and practices, morals, worldviews, texts, sanctified places, prophecies, ethics, or organizations, that relates humanity to supernatural, transcendental, or spiritual elements.

As religion is a social-cultural system, it thrives best in a community, among people who have culture. In a community, there can be divergent religious views, and citizens of a community must be mindful of this fact in other to live peacefully with one another.

Religion has helped in the sustainable development of community,  and it has brought about the improvement in the standard of living of citizens of the community. Also, communities has helped in the sustainability of religions there in. Religion has helped to maintain law and order in the community, to build values in the lives if citizens, curb moral decadence and social vices in the community. Religion to the community is not to bring disunity, but development, law, value, oneness and love.
A community with many religion must learn to tolerate each belief, accept individual differences in belief, live in peace and Harmony, love genuinely as the supreme being would want us to.
Love, unity, oneness, forbearance and tolerance must be the watch word of communities with different religious views.

  4. Good read. Religion is such a vast and controversial topic in our contemporary society today. I feel that there are shifting paradigms in people's perspective and faith when it comes to religion as more evil are being purported today than ever before in history all in the name of religion.
