COMFORT AND COMPLACENCY

I stood up from my comfortable white chair to get this amazing topic from the Deputy Editor as she called for volunteers to contest for the battle of views and I thought within me, that being a board member and coming for meetings every Thursday was not enough. Trying something new would be worth it, during my stay as an Editorial board member.

Everyone loves the mention of the word "comfort". Even my little puppy wants a comfortable kennel, lots of bones to chew and a ball to play with. We all, dream of a comfortable life with no worries, troubles, or problems. We know the truth, 'its difficult and hardly possible'.

Each day comes with a new set of examination questions and most times, we are not prepared for it. Nevertheless, we must live to pass/fail. When we pass we are happy and celebrated. When we fail, we are sad and unnoticed. We just need to pass, it keeps ringing in our heads. And when we finally do, we must keep living and winning.

'Who gets tired of honey after a spoon'? No one.  'Who gets comfortable with just one pair of clothes'? No one. The same goes for our relationships, business, education, spirituality, development and self discovery. It is a continuous process of hardwork, struggle, failure, winning and growth.

Mediocrity is not an option, we must constantly push ourselves out of our comfort zone to make our lives better.
A child falls as he trys to stand on his feet, does this mean he would never walk?. No, the child only gets tenacious and eventually walks after much efforts.

Dont get comfortable with the fact that you failed, don’t  feel like not everyone was destined to make it to the top. As far as life is concerned, the last 'success number' is unknown. Don’t get comfortable in failure’s bus, GET DOWN. Even the famous 30billion naira gang star Davido spends sleepless night making hit tracks to maintain his position as one of the world’s best music act. How do we even get this relaxed when there are a lot unachieved?.

Take an instance, you’re in a relationship and she tells you how much she hates your drinking, smoking and late nights habits and you tag her a nag. When she leaves for a better man, you call her bad. Trust me, no one wants to go on a life journey in a NO DESTINATION BUS . so please welcome change.

A journey  always begins with a step. Who thought making people laugh could keep millions in your account? Who thought imitating people could pay the bills? Who thought dressing people up could be a job? Who thought helping people answer their calls and replying messages could keep one out of the streets? These persons got thinking and busy. " No one got comfort by lying in the streets rather, comfort was made by working in the street".

I would never have written this if i had sat in my comfortable white chair not listening to my thoughts, my friends or even the voice of the Deputy Editor.
We are humans, the best of God's creation, blessed with wisdom, creative brains ,hands and a heart to make amazing decision to live a better life and make a better world. God did not stop after the creation of the sun and the moon till he made us. So why should we get so relaxed with the little or nothing we have done.

Total comfort, can only come in the grave. As we still live, we must keep progressing, wining, living and welcoming changes.
